Pupil Premium

Our vision at St John’s Mead is that every child should grow in wisdom, knowledge and skills so that they may flourish as unique human beings created in God’s likeness, knowing that they are loved and valued with the potential to make a difference in the world.

At St John’s Mead, we are passionate about ensuring that all children, whatever their starting points, achieve their full potential and are happy, confident and secure individuals.

In April 2011, Pupil Premium funding was introduced. This is “additional funding given to schools to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and to close the gap between them and their peers.”  Funds are paid directly to school and the amount received is based on the number of children who receive free school meals.

The school have a yearly plan for how to spend Pupil Premium money which focuses on the needs of the children, both academically and socially and emotionally. Our strategy can be found below and includes contributions to trips, emotional and social support and one to one time to set targets with their class teacher. The plan is supported by data and research and is evidenced-based.
