๐Ÿ… Celebrating Sport at St John’s Mead Primary School

At St John’s Mead we are proud to be a school rich in sporting talent and passion. We believe that sport plays a vital role in the development of every child—not only in building physical fitness and coordination, but also in fostering teamwork, resilience, confidence, and a healthy competitive spirit.

๐ŸŒŸ A School Where Every Child Shines

Whether it’s on the football pitch, in the swimming pool, at a dance competition, or crossing the finish line at Sports Day, we strive to celebrate every child’s sporting achievement—big or small. From personal bests to team victories, we recognise that every effort counts and every child’s contribution matters.

We make it our mission to ensure all children have the opportunity to:

  • Discover and develop their sporting potential
  • Take part in a wide range of physical activities
  • Represent the school with pride
  • Support and celebrate each other’s successes

๐Ÿ† Recognised for Excellence: School Games Mark Bronze Award

We are incredibly proud to have achieved the School Games Mark Bronze Award, a national recognition that celebrates our commitment to keeping children active across the whole school day.

This award highlights our dedication to:

  • High-quality PE within the curriculum
  • Active break times, led by our fantastic Year 5 and 6 Playground Leaders
  • A wide and inclusive range of extra-curricular sports clubs
  • Regular opportunities for physical activity within the classroom

Thanks to the enthusiasm of our pupils and the dedication of our staff, we were also named the most engaged school in South Gloucestershire for participation in the School Games programme. A huge achievement that reflects our whole-school approach to physical activity and well-being!

๐Ÿƒ‍โ™€๏ธ A Wide Range of Sporting Opportunities

We offer a broad and inclusive PE curriculum alongside a vibrant programme of after-school sports clubs, inter-school competitions, and special events throughout the year. From netball to gymnastics, athletics to tag rugby, there's something for everyone to enjoy and excel in.

Our talented staff and Swift Sports coaches work hard to ensure that children of all abilities feel inspired, supported, and challenged—helping them build a love of sport that lasts a lifetime.
