Friday 20th March 2020

Dear Parents/ Carers,

In light of the current situation, we will be posting weekly ‘focused tasks’ on the school website under the Reception class page to be completed which will be clearly dated. We have also attached a link to a ‘reference pack’ which has resources for you to access to support you with further ideas for helping your child at home over the forth coming weeks (this will also help you with completing the focus tasks each week). These can both be found at the bottom of this page. In addition to the ‘reference pack’ and weekly ‘focused tasks’, we have provided a paper book and pencils for your child which you can either collect from school on Friday 20th March or ask a friend to collect on your child’s behalf.

We are committed to ensuring that your child is still learning as much as possible and endeavour to do our absolute best to keep this happening. We will be in communication with you via Tapestry and the school website during this time and will update the class page on the school website every Monday by 12:00.

Thank you for your continued support during this time.

We hope you and your family are all keeping well.

Warmest regards,

Mrs Walter, Mrs Dare and Ms Phillips

Recently in Reception...

So far this term, we have been focusing on our topic 'Building Big Ideas'. We have been reading 'The Questionneers' books by Andrea Beaty, including 'Iggy Peck Architect' and have been looking at some architects plans and exploring building using different resources. For example; layers of plastic cups and paper, clothes pegs and lolly sticks and straws and sellotape. We have linked this learning to the traditional tale 'The Three Little Pigs' when learning 'Talk for Writing' actions and discussing the strength of the different materials used to build the houses. We then read 'Ada Twist Scientist' and have been exploring our senses- smelling and identifying different scents and trying to pair different eggs with varying contents by shaking them to hear and identify what is inside. We are looking forward to our Science Day on Monday 16th when we will be exploring similarities, differences, patterns and change :-)....

Please find photos of this learning on Tapestry.

Do you have any ideas for this page? Please let a member of the Reception team know.

Best wishes,

The Reception Team
