Apollo and Atlantis

Welcome to Reception!

So far this term, we have been focusing on our topic 'Looking after our world'. The children have been sharing fantastic ideas about the 4Rs (recycle, repair, reduce, reuse) and have been sorting different materials and junk modelling. The children have been encouraged to write a letter to Amazon about reducing their packaging after we received a topic book in a ginormous card box! At the end of our topic the children helped to complete a 'Yippee Yellow' diagram celebrating all that they have learnt.

Due to the children's interest we are now moving on to learning about 'Under the Sea'. The children have helped to complete a 'Growth Green' diagram, where they have asked question about areas of interest. We will use this to inform our planning over the coming weeks. (Please see the Parent Noticeboard in Apollo class window to see these diagrams and the children's comments and questions). We are focusing on the book 'Shark in the Park' by Nick Sharratt, when looking at rhyming in Literacy.

Requests:

  • We would be grateful if you could provide a card tube for your child to make their own telescope to be like Timothy Pope!
  • If you have any digital cameras that you no longer need, we would be very grateful for any donations for the children to use in class (with blank memory cards). Many thanks in advance!
